Restoring and protecting our waterways is immensely complicated work, often requiring expertise across a wide variety of scientific and technical disciplines. Few nonprofit water protection organizations can employ all the technical specialists they need to complete their work, and so often need to look outside their organization to access assistance. The technical needs of watershed organizations can become applied public research projects, empirical models, and experiential learning opportunities for researchers and students.

The River Science Connection allows watershed organizations to post detailed requests for science and technical services. Our robust system allows members to describe a wide variety of project and partnership types, helping us find the right match for technical support. Requests are shared both in-network, and with external science networks like the Society for Freshwater Science and the Union of Concerned Scientists. We hope to catalyze no-cost mutually beneficial partnerships but the exchange is also suitable for the posting of contractual service opportunities, and below you can find guidance for forming unique partner arrangements.
